Black Mountain School

Opened in 1954, Black Mountain School caters for students with a disability in years 7-12 from the northside of Canberra. It is a centre for excellence in education and takes pride in providing deeply personalised learning for all students. Black Mountain School is committed to providing rigorous, authentic, hands on learning experiences at the point of need for each individual.

Cranleigh School

Opened in 1974, Cranleigh is a specialist school for students aged between 4 and 12 years living north of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. Their 100 students have significant intellectual disabilities and many have autism as well.

The school's focus for their students is to develop independence through individualised learning plans and is strongly committed to providing all children with a voice through a range of communication approaches through a wide range of specialist programs and facilities to enhance the learning programs which are developed in partnership with the families.

Malkara School

Opened in 1970, Malkara is a Pre-school to Year 6 school for students with a moderate to severe intellectual disability living on the southside of Canberra. The Malkara school community works together to provide a positive student centred learning environment that enables students to develop towards their full potential and be valued and contributing members of society.

The Woden School

Opened in 1974, The Woden School offers a unique supported high school program (Year 7-12) to eligible students who meet the ACT Disability Criteria. This includes students who have an intellectual disability which may be accompanied by a range of medical conditions, or additional sensory, physical or behavioural disabilities. Small class sizes ensure that students receive a high level of individual instruction.

Their teachers are recognised nationally as leaders in differentiating the curriculum for students with disabilities. Like their mainstream peers' students study core curriculum subjects, select electives according to individual preferences and participate in a range of exciting and age-appropriate extra-curricular high school enrichment activities. Year 10 certificates are awarded at the end of their year 10 studies.

The Marymead Autism Centre

Marymead is a not-for-profit organisation servicing the ACT and southern and western regional areas of NSW which aims to deliver high quality support services aimed at children, young people and families. The Marymead Autism Centre provides services specific to families, carers and individuals in the ACT community who live with autism spectrum disorder.

Roundabout Canberra

Founded in 2018, Roundabout Canberra provides safe, high quality, essential baby and children’s items to families in need by taking donations of pre-loved (and new) items from the Canberra community, including cots, prams, car seats, linen, clothing, and toys. The volunteers at Roundabout clean, sort and safety check all the donations to ensure they meet mandatory safety standards before packaging items up to head off to a family in their time of need.

Roundabout works directly with over 500 social workers and support workers from over 100 social service and community organisations in Canberra and surrounding regions including public hospitals, women’s and domestic violence refuges, migrant and refugee support services and more.
